While I suspect that some folks on this forum know about this exciting event this weekend (Sat. Nov 8th) in Gainesville, I thought to share it here for those who do not. The event is Gainesville BarCamp: A tech-oriented un-conference.
What makes this event particularly interesting is the history and success of this style of event in other cities all over the world dating back to the first one on August 2005.
Guess that I also have a selfish reason for promoting the event as I signed up to present a talk entitled "Look Ma, No Sever: Introducing Firebase". By the way, my awareness and interest in Firebase started from a recent post in this very forum.
I was going to post about Gainesville BarCamp tonight after the meeting. It seemed like several had not heard about this! Chris Dolphin is also presenting as well. Looking forward to Saturday!
Thanks for the plug, @maaving. Yea, I'll be there giving a talk on how accessible programming is. I thought about giving it to this group but its not really relevant because most ppl here already know some JS.
If you guys know someone who would be good at programming I recommend bringing them by. I'll be giving an abstract overview of how the web works, how easy it can be to work with, and how it isnt scary to get started.
Great introduction to FireBase by @sckmkny, thanks!
@sckmkny and @likethemammal both did a bang up job! It was good to see some familiar faces!
