Introducing GainesvilleJS Happy Hours.
Part of the challenge that I (and know some others) have is that I already attend a number of other (outside of GainesvileJS) interest group meetings, e.g.,
- Frontend Awesome! (Gainesville Front End Meetup); next meeting is Thu Apr 16.
- Breakfast at Mi Apa; next meeting is Tue Apr 7
- Agile Gainesville, next meeting is May 6
- Gainesville Area Network (GAIN); next meeting is Wed. Apr 29
This essentially gives me at least one thing to do every week already. Guess I am saying, I can only drink so much beer (SMILE).
Yea. That makes sense. I know Gainesville is a smaller community and that the space is already pretty saturated. What I was hoping to accomplish was to get some of the folks who aren't yet comfortable with coming to a full on meetup. They can be a little overwhelming.
This is going in the same vein as partnering with other businesses to host at their facility every few months so that our users get more of a feel of the actual tech community and not just 352. I want to make GainesvilleJS more valuable to those who are members than just hosting a talk once a month.
I'm pretty much down for it. It'll be a lot less formal than the meetups (which are already informal). I suggest Fridays. thoughts?
@mherchel you mentioned maybe joining forces on this one. A joint Gainesville JS and FrontEnd Awesome happy hour. Are you still down for that. I think it's a great idea. Something like Gainesville Web Dev Happy Hour? Fridays are fine for me.
